To create a hanging indent: Enter a first line indent where you want the indent to start, then click the Hanging Indent icon to create the hanging indent. This enables you to toggle a paragraph between an indented first line and a hanging indent. Click on this icon to switch the values of Before text and First line. The Hanging Indent icon is found in the Paragraph section of the Properties sidebar. Hanging indentsįor a hanging indent, enter a positive value for Before text and a negative value for First line. Normally, in Word, you can move the upper triangle to make an indent, you can use the lower triangle to make a hanging indent, or you can use the square. In right-to-left languages, the right edge of the paragraph is indented with respect to the right page margin. Im brand new to LibreOffice and so far Im loving it, but one thing Ive noticed that seems to be lacking in Libre compared to Word is using the margin triangles to make hanging indents. Spacing Specify the amount of space to leave between selected paragraphs. To indent the first line of a paragraph that uses numbering or bullets, choose 'Format - Bullets and Numbering - Position'. This new default tab interval will then apply to all new documents until you change it again. You can change the default tab stop value if you want by going Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice Writer -> General -> Tab stops (under Settings). The indents are different regarding the writing direction. To change the measurement units, choose LibreOffice - Preferences Tools - Options - LibreOffice Writer - General, and then select a new measurement unit in the Settings area.
